Cordova, Alaska
Wildlife Vacations
If you love the outdoors
with large and diverse wildlife species, you will love
Cordova.
Cordova is in the center
of 3 different ecosystems. The Copper
River Delta,
Chugach Mountain Range and Prince William Sound.
|
The area around
the Cordova Rose Lodge is nesting area for about 13
resident Bald Eagles, although this magnificent
photo taken by Michael Quinton was taken elsewhere
in Alaska, it is typical family life for the
Beautiful Bald Eagle.
Cordova has a
very good population of Bald eagles and as common
as they are in Cordova, Cordovans never get tired
of watching this beautiful creation in flight and
setting proud upon his perch, looking out over his
domain for that next meal.

The delta Trumpeter swans, are North America's largest
water fowl. The delta is also home to the largest Moose in
the world and the largest concentration of beaver in the
world.
Black and Brown bears roam
the delta feeding off of spawning salmon in streams through
the delta and Chugach mountain range and also are
inhabitants of most of the many islands in the sound.
The delta is also home to
4 or 5 wolf packs, coyotes, foxes, mink, and wolverines to
name a few.
Birds and waterfowl are
everywhere you look, the delta also hosting the densest
population of waterfowl in Alaska. The delta is home to the
Bald Eagle, Golden Eagle, hawks and falcons.
Each
spring millions of shore birds grace the delta and tidal mud
flats as a resting and feeding area on there migration
route. The delta with over 700.000 acres of wet lands
Prince William Sound, has
an incredible concentration of sea and shore life. Humpback
whales, orca whales, sea lions, seals, sea otters at play,
while sighting bear and deer along the shore with countless
sea birds living along rocky cliffs and sandy shores.
