Arriving into Cordova's
airport in the afternoon, where you will be met by a Cordova
Rose Lodge staff member. From the airport you will take a 12
mile ride into Cordova and Cordova Rose Lodge.
Once settled in you will have time to look around before

DAY
1
Good morning! After a good breakfast you will take a 10
minute ride down to Orca beach for the first half of today's
adventures, sea kayaking in Orca bay. This adventure
includes guide and naturalist, all gear necessary, and a
light snack along the way.
This is a great trip,
viewing up close: sea otters, sea lions, possible sightings
of Orca whales, all types of water fowl, and shore birds,
with possible sightings of deer and bear along the
shore.
After your kayaking
adventure you will be brought back to the lodge for lunch,
before getting aboard for your next adventure, Rafting
through icebergs and floating by Sheridan glacier and down
Sheridan River. This is an easy and beautiful trip with all
types of wildlife sightings along the way. You will float
down Sheridan River to the Copper Highway and the end of the
trip. Here you will be served a real Alaska treat, smoked
salmon, drinks and snacks.
|

|

|
You will be
brought back to the lodge, a car will be available
for you if you wish to drive into town, etc. before
dinner .
DAY 2
Good morning! We have an all day hiking,
glacier and wild life viewing adventure planed for
you today. Your Guide and naturalist will pick you
up at the lodge and drive to the trail head of
Saddleback Glacier trail. From there you will hike
through the Alaska tundra to Saddleback
Glacier.
|
You will enjoy a great lunch along the way with stops all
along, by your guide and naturalist. Afternoon free to
explore town or local wildlife. Dinner as scheduled.
|
DAY 3
Good morning! Today we have a very special all day
adventure planed for you. Exploring close up, the
beauty of Prince William Sound.
After breakfast
transportation will be provided for a short drive
to the harbor where your charter will be ready
around 8 am. After a safety talk and discussion of
what everyone is interested in seeing and doing we
will leave the harbor .
|

|

|
|

|

|
We will typically
head to one of three bays where we will see a
multitude of sea otters, eagles, seabirds,
waterfalls, and spawning salmon, and to search for
brown bears, to photograph waterfalls, or just
enjoy the close up beauty of Prince William Sound.
Shore lunches are often a special part of these
shore journeys. We generally will grill a freshly
caught salmon and add grilled garlic bread along
with a salad and of course dessert.
|
We'll continue the day exploring secluded spots and again,
going ashore if so desired. The day will end back in the
harbor around 5 or 6 pm.
Dinner will be ready when you are.
|
DAY 4
Today is your day on your own.
I suggest a trip
out the copper river highway to the million dollar
bridge and child's Glacier. Child's Glacier is
about 50 miles out the highway from Cordova and the
roads end.
|

|

|
Passing through the amazing Copper river delta with more
than 700.000 acres, with the largest population of beaver in
the world and home the large delta moose, brown and black
bears, wolf, fox, wolverine, and countless water fowl and
shore birds during migration. Getting to the Glacier is half
the fun.
At the Glacier you have a park attendant on duty, with
trails, viewing areas, and camp sites. This is a good place
for that great lunch we packed you. We will provide all the
information you will need on Child's Glacier and the
area.
If you come in a little
early from the Glacier you will have some time for some last
minute shopping in town, or if time allows you can take a
ride up power creek road to some salmon spawning areas where
it's possible to see bears feeding on the abundant spawning
salmon.
