Every year Cordova hosts one of the largest migrations of shore birds in the world. Our back yard is over 700,000 acres of wetlands in the Copper River Delta. Cordova's Shore Bird Festival is a week long event filled guest speakers and great events. Each year, around May 6th, birders and photographers from all over the world come to Cordova to witness the wonder of nature where hundreds upon thousands of shore birds visit our wetlands. Cordova Rose Lodge sits on the breakwater of Odiak Slough and at low tide has a great view of the migrating birds. A short drive in either direction from the lodge takes you to more spectacular viewing areas. The untouched beauty of Cordova and the Copper River Delta alone is worth the trip.
