C: FIVE DAY • MULTI - ADVENTURE PACKAGE (2008) Our five day hiking,
fishing, rafting, kayaking, and sight seeing package allows
5 days of adventures. Most of you will come by air to
Cordova. You will be met at the airport by a Cordova Rose
Lodge staff member. The only other way into Cordova is by
state ferry on the Alaska Marine Highway System since
Cordova is not connected by the State Highway System. Fishing and sightseeing
with Captain Bill. Captain Bill has lived as a year-round
resident of Cordova for twenty years working as a commercial
fisherman. Participant in most of the fisheries throughout
the coasts of Alaska. Having extensive knowledge from years
of experience sailing and guiding the waters of Prince
William Sound. Captain Bill has hosted specials for ESPN and
Larry Csonka productions as per his video Big Fish of
Alaska. After a full hot breakfast you will be taken to the
harbor where Captain Bill will be ready to take off for a
full day of shark or halibut fishing and sight-seeing.
Possible sightings of Orca whales, humpbacked whales, sea
otters, stellar sea lions, moose, deer, black and brown bear
and numerous species of waterfowl. Charter includes bait and
tackle for sport fishing and lunch. Hang on! DAY 3 You will leave Cordova
Rose Lodge for a five minute drive to Cordova City Airport.
You will board a float plane that will take off from
beautiful Lake Eyak. Your one hour flight will take you in a
large circle pattern around Cordova. This will give you a
breathtaking view of the diversity that surrounds Cordova
and the vast wilderness at our doorstep. From the air you
may spot some of our local wildlife. A bear or a majestic
delta moose. Have your camera ready and bring plenty of
film. After your flight you will take the short drive back
to the lodge. We will have your lunch packed and ready for
your next adventure ... you are headed out the Copper River
Highway. This is Cordova's only highway. It runs about 50
miles through the Copper River Delta and deadends at Childs
Glacier. At your leisure you will drive through the delta.
Do not forget that camera! Brown and Black bear, moose and
trumpeter swans, eagles, beavers, and countless other
animals are the inhabitants of this diverse ecological area.
It's at the end of the road where the truly spectacular
begins. Watch as ice falls hundreds of feet from the top of
Childs Glacier into the rushing Copper River below. You will
also enjoy walking across the Million Dollar Bridge that
spans the Copper River between Miles and Childs Glaciers.
After more than eight decades the bridge stands as a
monument to the rugged men who built the Copper River and
Northwest Railway. With a panoramic view of the calving
glacier, it's a great place to take and enjoy lunch. Your
trip should take 5 to 6 hours, that will depend on when you
can pull yourself away from the glacier and all of those
great photo opportunities. After a busy day you will want to
rest for a while at the lodge with a cup of coffee or hot
chocolate. Relax before dinner in town at one of several
restaurants or pubs. This is your trip so please advise us
of any interest you might have, we will accommodate you any
way we can to make your stay as enjoyable as
possible. DAY 4 Tour de Bay - Guided Sea

Cordova is a very special place and we want to share it with our friends. Like anything you recommend to a friend, you want to make sure the service and the people you are recommending are the best. That is what we have tried to do in putting together this special trip package for Cordova, Summer 2008.
DAY 1
Welcome to Cordova. The first day is set aside for you
to discover the town of Cordova on a slower pace after your
long trip. From the center of town the museum is a great
place to start. A tour through Cordova's past will help you
understand the pride Cordovan's take in Cordova at it's
present state today and them wanting to preserve their way
of life by keeping it that way. Visit the local shops on
Main Street and all the out of the way shops throughout our
town offering local arts and crafts.
Visit the harbor and talk to the local fishermen as they are
bringing the catch in for the day or while they are mending
their nets for the next opener when they will be going out
to catch thousands of pounds of salmon again. They will be
glad to tell you about what they do. Commercial fishing is
the heart of Cordova and the engine that runs Cordova.
Cordova has a great selection of places for lunch during the
spring and summer season. Enjoy your lunch at one of several
places looking out over the harbor and Orca Inlet.
With your rent a car for the day you can explore out to
Hartney Bay or drive by the Coast Guard Dock where usually
the Coast Guard boat the Sycamore will be moored at, or over
at the ferry terminal which the local use to get their
vehicle in to Anchorage or Valdez.
All local information will be provided for you. You can
decide how you want to spend your day. Enjoy a tour through
the barge and the grounds of the Cordova Rose Lodge and
learn about its history.
DAY

start of the Sheridan Lake Adventure. Begin your trip with a
guided natural history hike over the Sheridan Glacier
Morainne. As you hike you will learn about the regional
history. The hike ends at the Sheridan Lake where you climb
aboard waiting rafts and are paddled around Sheridan Lake.

look for ice worms! After paddling around the lake you will
thrill to Class H and Class HI rapids on the Sheridan River.

served. Trip length is approximately 5 hours. You can
